Paola Soccorso is senior economist at Economic Research Department of the Italian Securities and Exchange Commission (CONSOB). Her main research interests are behavioural finance, households finance, investor education, sustainable and responsible investments and digitalisation of investment services. She is author of many studies on individual financial choices, based on quantitative, qualitative and experimental analysis. She contributes to the design and analysis of two CONSOB surveys, i.e. the Report on financial investments of Italian households, exploring psychological attitudes, behavioural traits and actual choices of individuals, and the Mirroring survey, examining the relationship between financial advisors and
their clients. As for investor education, she contributed to CONSOB research papers investigating methodological issue (among the others: Challenges in ensuring financial competencies. Essays on how to measure financial knowledge, target beneficiaries and deliver educational programmes, 2017, acting also as co-editor, Teaching model on financial education. Operational guidelines for secondary schools, 2019, and Tools for assessing the impact of financial education in secondary school. Evidence from a focus group, 2022). She also contributes to the development of multidisciplinary and behaviourally informed methodologies for investor education and to the design and implementation of educational materials and formats dedicated to different target groups. Among the other, she wrote Sofia va in Borsa, a short tale for children aged between 7 and 10 (the title plays on the Italian word ‘Borsa’ that means ‘bag’ but also ‘Stock exchange’); she developed App…rendimento (playing on the words: ‘app’ – short for ‘application’ and ‘apprendimento’ that means ‘learning’), a role-game developed in collaboration with the University of Trento and available on the CONSOB website. She participates in the Italian National Committee for Financial Education where she actively collaborated to the development of: the Guidelines for financial education for adults, the educational programme for the National Olympic Committee, and the workplace financial education project for administrative staff of Roma Tre University. She participates in the network OECD-INFE as alternate of the CONSOB representative.
